Hannie Voyles Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Hannie Voyles. This scholarship is awarded to full time students that maintains a cumulative 3.0 GPA majoring in English and demonstrates financial need. Financial need is determined by students who will be receiving form of financial aid.

Hannie was a long time Butte College instructor – over 30 years! Hannie said “I have some 5,000 students in the world whom I thank for making teaching so much fun! I never took a sick day! I never, never hated to go to work!"
At Butte College, Hannie was the department chair of 10 disciplines, Dean of Language Arts, Performing Arts, Humanities, the Learning Center; Field Hockey coach, which earned a state championship in 1978 and regional champions in years 1971-1979; and, she and a colleague started Butte College’s Senior College at a time when Butte was “under enrolled” and added 2,000 senior students who enjoyed their experiences in a dozen different classes in both Butte and Glenn counties.
